During a period in the One Year War, the standard Zaku II underwent a number of revisions. One of
the last versions was the F2 type, equipped with improved thrusters for better mobility. At the end of the war, many of these
machines were captured by the Federation Forces, which put them to use as "aggressor" mobile suits for combat practice. The
F2 type is also used by various groups of Zeon renegades, including the Delaz Fleet and Neuen Bitter's forces in East Africa.
